Episode 567 – Homestead Update for May 5, 2022


Today, I talk about the Spring Sprint, caring for yourself and your homestead, adding a Daily Dose of garden care, No Kill List, and the new heartbeats that are arriving this morning.

  • Last call for watercress
  • Wild rose petals
  • Hairy vetch
  • Radish greens, lettuce, malabar spinach
  • Sage, young dill, young basil, parsley, cilantro

Livestock

  • The chicks are arriving and I still did not find the chick feed I want (sans soy, sans fish protein)
  • Not sure of the sheep schedule
  • Pigs will soon move to Jenni’s
  • Goats need hoof trimming, mineral refills
  • Ducks are about to go broody
  • Dog integration update

Grow

  • Spring Sprint: LFTN22 happened exactly when we needed to be transplanting
  • Tomatoes are in the ground, as are herbs
  • Peppers are being hardened off this week
  • Daily Dose: 1 row per day approach

  • Jenni served Dinner much to our relief on Tuesday – we are all tired
