Coffee All Day Long: 2 Mocktails
Why stop drinking coffee at 3 pm? Why not take a two-hour break and start again with Happy Hour?
We’ll start with a recipe for simple syrup, which many cocktails use.
Simple Syrup
Ingredients
Sugar
Water
Heat equal parts sugar and water until dissolved.
Cool before using.
Coffee Old Fashioned
Ingredients
1 oz concentrated coffee
1/2 oz simple syrup
Bitters of your choice
Ice
Add coffee concentrate, simple syrup, orange bitters and ice to a shaker.
Shake it well and pour into an old fashioned glass with ice. Top with a cherry or other fruit.
Elbow Grease Froth
Ingredients
2 oz strong coffee
1 oz simple syrup
ice
Pour coffee and syrup into a shaker, then fill with ice.
Shake and shake and shake until the mixture is frothy and outside of shaker is frosty – about a minute.
Strain into a short glass and serve.
For an Elbow Grease Mocha Froth, add 1 oz chocolate syrup, halving the amount of simple syrup or doubling the amount of coffee.
