Quick Trip to India
Don’t worry: there’s no need to find the nearest Indian grocer. Let’s make a spicy additive for salad, soup, stew, or noodles.
Pan-seared Tandoori Tofu
Ingredients
1 block extra-firm tofu
Slice tofu into 3/8″ rectangles.
Tandoori Spice mix
Ingredients
1 TBSP cayenne pepper
1 TBSP cumin
1 TBSP salt
1 TBSP turmeric
1 tsp black pepper
1 TBSP smoked paprika (use plain old paprika if that’s what’s on your shelf)
1 TBSP red pepper flakes
Mix all these spices/herbs and coat the tofu slices.
Heat oil and sear both sides of the spiced tofu.
Cut into cubes and use in or on anything a little too bland for your pleasure.
Freeze extra slices of tofu for later use.
