Episode 573 – Homestead Update for May 20, 2022

  • Lambsquarter
  • Poison Hemlock
  • Daylily flowers
  • Radishes, greens, lettuce, basil and herbs, mint
  • Tactical forged through my freezer while I was gone

Livestock

  • Pig Moving Hijinks
  • Chickens are on pasture (Processing class June ??)
  • Pod sealing with swines (Corn over holes)
  • Broody duck
  • Goat on tether
  • Begin harvesting fodder
  • Cycy is better

Grow

  • Bean germination problem
  • Cukes and squash up
  • Tomato wall looks good
  • Hops need trellis
  • Foliar spray cycle needed, plants look sad everywhere but the ap and hydro system
  • Potatoes look great, need to be hilled
  • Sweet potato slips

Holler Neighbors/Community

  • T held down the fort
  • LB and playing dead
  • Jenni feeding pigs

Infrastructure

  • Pond, three sections with electric for sheep
  • IIBCs for the ap are cut and prepped for the AP
  • Perimeter fence is underway
  • Hydro is about done
  • Need to install trellis everywhere
  • Automated pig water and garden water

Finances

  • The last 2 weeks cost us money
